Plan Accordingly When it comes to custom cabinetry, one of the most important decisions you’ll make is choosing the type of wood. The wood you select will impact the durability, aesthetic, and overall cost of your cabinets. At LSC Cabinetry, we work closely with our clients to ensure that their cabinets are not only beautiful but tailored to their needs and budget. Here’s a guide to help you understand the different types of wood commonly used in cabinetry and which may be the best fit for your home. Oak: Classic and Durable Oak is one of the most traditional woods used in cabinetry. Known for its durability, oak has a prominent grain that adds texture and character to cabinets. It’s available in two varieties: red oak, which has a warm hue and visible grain pattern, and white oak, which is slightly more subtle in appearance with a more refined grain. Oak is an excellent choice if you’re looking for a classic, sturdy cabinet that will stand the test of time. Best for: Traditional, rustic, or farmhouse-style kitchens and bathrooms.

Elevate Your Home's Aesthetic Open concept living has become increasingly popular in modern home design, offering homeowners the flexibility of expansive, connected spaces without the confinement of traditional walls. This architectural style creates a more fluid, adaptable environment but can present challenges when it comes to storage solutions. That’s where custom cabinetry from LSC Cabinetry shines, providing functional and aesthetically pleasing designs that fit seamlessly into open floor plans. The Challenge of Storage in Open Concept Homes When a home lacks the typical boundaries of walls separating different rooms, it can be difficult to incorporate storage without disrupting the open flow of the space . Kitchens, living rooms, and dining areas often share the same visual space in open-concept designs, which means storage solutions must be subtle, efficient, and aesthetically cohesive with the overall design. At LSC Cabinetry, we specialize in designing custom cabinets that meet these exact challenges. Our cabinets can provide the perfect balance of function and form, offering homeowners the storage they need without sacrificing the beauty of their open floor plan.

When it comes to designing custom cabinetry for your home, the process should be both exciting and rewarding. At LSC Cabinetry, we have been dedicated to providing high-quality, personalized cabinetry solutions since 2008. With over 25 years of experience, our founder, Larry Chivers, brings decades of craftsmanship and expertise to every project. Our Story Our journey in the world of cabinet making started when our founder, Larry Chivers, was just 12 years old. He began working at a local cabinet shop, taking on responsibilities like cleaning and organizing the workspace. As he continued through high school, his passion for cabinet making grew, and he took on more complex duties, gaining invaluable experience in the trade. Alongside his work, Larry attended vocational school, honing his skills in both cabinet making and carpentry. After high school, he worked full-time as cabinet makers, further developing our skills while attending night classes in trade and small business. Eventually, our journey led us to a larger cabinet manufacturer, where he managed a team of 20 crew members for over 15 years. In 2008, Larry took the leap and launched LSC Cabinetry, a small business with a focus on high-quality custom cabinetry. Today, our team of eight continues to learn, grow, and create beautiful cabinets tailored to each client’s unique vision. Now that you know a bit about our background, let’s take a closer look at how we guide homeowners through the process of designing, building, and installing custom cabinets.
